This week, we hoped that TV One News would give us the chance to provide some counter to the big bunch of spin all over the Dom Post recently. That was unfortunately not the case. The pilots, airline association and Steven Joyce have now all come out with serious doubts and concerns following the airport’sContinueContinue reading “SOME REAL FACTS ABOUT THE AIRPORT EXTENSION”

OPINION David Lee: Wellington runway extension or runaway costs?
OPINION: As Wellington International Airport Limited (WIAL) prepares to lodge its application for resource consent for a runway extension, it’s important Wellingtonians are aware of the full facts – because, if the scheme goes ahead, a vast amount of ratepayers’ money will be pouring into it. The plan has its supporters. Wellington City Council (WCC)ContinueContinue reading “OPINION David Lee: Wellington runway extension or runaway costs?”
What exactly is happening with the Council funding the airport runway extension?
Some interesting developments have recently happened in the runway extension saga and we are going to have to start asking some serious questions about the Council’s involvement with the airport. TheContinueContinue reading “The Register: What will the Wellington airport runway extension do for business owners?”

But there are also formidable opponents, including Government ministers. If the project is to fly then its champions will have to make a formidable case. TheContinueContinue reading “The Dominion Post Editorial: Proof needed for longer Wellington Airport runway case”
Stuff Opinion: Wellington needs a longer runway? Yeah, right
OPINION: When the canon of lost causes is examined in the future, somewhere near the top of the list for Wellington will be the local airport’s weird campaign for a longer runway. In recent weeks, Wellington International Airport has been running full page advertisements in local newspapers which, while no doubt welcome cashflow for theContinueContinue reading “Stuff Opinion: Wellington needs a longer runway? Yeah, right”
Keith Johnson: Wellington City Council Debt: Big Ideas and the Gamble for Growth
UNWELCOME FACTS New Zealand as a whole is very similar in terms of both population and GDP to the US State of Kentucky. As far as the Wellington Region is concerned, the metro areas of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Tulsa, Oklahoma are reasonable comparators. Getting down to Wellington City itself, you can pair it off withContinueContinue reading “Keith Johnson: Wellington City Council Debt: Big Ideas and the Gamble for Growth”
